Fiberglass battens are stronger and less expensive than foam battens, but also heavier. You trim the batten to the exact length needed (minimum 67-7/8″). In order to preserve the taper, be sure to cut from the untapered end only.
The 100-9/16″ tapered batten can be trimmed to fit:
- H17/H17Sport #1 89″ (1994/older Sport) / 95-1/4 (newer Sport/SE: lengths updated 2006)
- H17/H17Sport #2 90-5/8″ (1994/older Sport) / 94″ (newer Sport/SE: lengths updated 2006)
- H18SX #4 100-9/16″
- H18SX #5 93-7/8″
- H18SX #6 83-5/16″
- H18SX #7 67-7/8″
Battens are numbered starting with #1 at the bottom and counting up. Measurements shown are guidelines only, so be sure to measure your sail’s batten pockets before cutting! When measuring sail for battens, add approximately 2″ to length of batten pocket to allow for compression and batten ties. Wear gloves and mask when cutting fiberglass. Both luff and leech caps are included.
A $150 oversized item fee will be added at checkout (one fee per order).
