The 'Strap-on' boom head is another ground-breaking innovation from Streamlined. Its design sets a new level of performance with a stable, rigid, controllable connection between the boom and the mast. With the Strap-on's incredible strength and durability, the boom head is no longer the weakest link of the rig. A sturdy cast aluminum frame incorporates resilient urethane bushings to isolate and cushion the connection between your carbon boom and mast. This design assures the boom head will not accumulate flex over time, as do its plastic counterparts. Two independent straps with stainless steel lever clamps work in tandem to spread the load and reduce slippage. The Strap-on Boom Head weighs only 381 grams (13.5 ounces). For comparison, the Hawaiian Pro Line head, the lightest on the market, weighs only 45 grams (1.5 ounces) less. The five models offered are exactly the same except for the boom bushing, which is sized to a particular boom diameter. Installation is a matter of four screws, and is very similar to mounting handlebars on a bicycle or a motorcycle. Strap-on RDM Boom Heads are designed to fit only reduced diameter masts. They are 10.1cm/4 inches wide and require that distance to properly mount them. The correct fit to your boom's diameter is essential, so be sure to select the appropriate boom head for your boom. They all have the same great features as the original "Strap-on" made for standard diameter masts and appear nearly identical, so they are uniquely anodized purple. Both the standard blue and RDM purple boom heads have many refinements which enhance their already legendary performance and reliability.
