GATH® Surf Convertible
Since Gath is the only headgear designed for surfing, Gath knows you want and need lightweight, closefitting protection. The Surf Convertible preserves your field of vision and lets you control how much your hearing is affected. It also provides sun protection for the face, eyes and scalp to help prevent skin cancer and pterygia.


Remove the earpieces and wear the skull cap only to optimize hearing, balance and cooling.
For maximum protection and warmth, wear with ear protectors for full head and ear coverage.

New Added Forehead Protection
Molded high-density foam padding adds protective insulation from bumps, helps hold helmet in proper position, and adds sizing element for optimal fit.

Neck Protection
The low volume, lightweight, rounded shell shape helps protect from the effects of “bucketing” water or from “snagging” the reef, a leash, or your board.

More Secure, Suction Cup Fit
Molded, closed-cell liner and peel-and-stick comfort fit strips allow you to achieve real comfort, security and proper fitting of head shape.

Wear It & Forget It Comfort
Flexible fitting ear protectors adjust to you! Ear protectors are removable to accommodate warm temperature or your style. Four-point attachment keeps Gath secure with or without ear protectors.

First class materials
The Surf Convertible’s shell is high impact resistant, quality ABS plastic. The molded closed-cell foam liner is comfortable and non-absorbent. Non-corrosive components and adhesives mean long-lasting durability and low maintenance.

Ultra-lightweight
The Surf Convertible without ear pockets weighs only 280-305 grams (.62 lb.-.67 lb.), depending on size. Ear pockets add 60 grams (.19 lb) per set. You might forget you’re wearing it!

Communication and entertainment compatibility
 New Gath ear protectors will accommodate existing and forthcoming waterproof speakers and microphones for use with one or two-way radios and waterproof MP-3 players. Call for additional information.

COMFORT STRIPS
Comfort strips are available to help achieve a fit that offers maximum comfort and stability for smaller and in-between head sizes and shapes.

Gath Convertible helmets are fitted with a unique, soft foam peel-and-stick comfort strip to provide a secure, comfortable fit. Choose a helmet size and comfort strip combination that provides a snug fit. With the chinstrap firmly tightened, test for movement. The helmet must not be loose. When fitting, allow a little time for the soft foam comfort strip to compress, then determine if the fit is firm with no uncomfortable pressure points.The helmet you choose should fit firmly enough to prevent ease of movement while still remaining comfortable. If you are unable to obtain the correct fit, contact your local distributor regarding special fitting kits and techniques.

Gath foam comfort strips are held to the helmet liner by pressure sensitive tape. If the comfort strip is removed or becomes loose, it can be re-attached using Super Glue. Simply glue between the outside edge of the comfort strip and helmet liner comfort strip trench.

The location and thickness of comfort strips can be varied to accommodate head shape. For a "long" head, use thicker strips on the sides and thinner strips in front and back. For a "round" head, use thicker strips in the front and/or back and thinner strips on the sides.

GATH WARRANTY
GATH products are guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for three years from the date of purchase, provided they are used as intended and the care instructions are strictly followed. This warranty does not cover scratches to the Gath or the effects of overexposure to heat.

RECOMMENDATIONS & LIMITATIONS FOR USE
Gath headgear is primarily designed for surfing and similar wave/water based activities that require compact, snug-fitting protection. Your Gath is NOT designed to provide the level of impact absorption expected of cycling or other land-based helmets. Gath headgear is made from the latest hi-tech, shatter proof plastic and provides a super lightweight, snug fitting, layer of defence against superficial head injury, cuts, bumps and abrasions. Gath also helps minimize the painful physical side effects caused by the SUN (deadly skin cancers, eye damage), WIND CHILL (chronic ear ache, surfers' ear), SALT WATER SPRAY (sore eyes) and PRESSURE INDUCED EAR INJURY (perforated ear drums).

IMPORTANT
Gath headgear offers some protection against impact injury and may build confidence. However, it is no substitute for common sense and may not afford protection from serious injury or death. Gath headgear is not recommended for use on roads or highways or for use as a “crash” helmet. VERY IMPORTANT: It is the user’s responsibility to decide the level of protection they require for their chosen activities. Gath Sports Pty Ltd, its Associated Companies, Insurers, Distributors and Agents are not to be held liable for injury relating to impact protection.

SUITABLE ACCESSORIES
Suitable accessories are limited to those produced by the manufacturer which are supplied by the manufacturer or to Gath distributors and agents worldwide. Gath headgear should not be adapted for the purpose of fitting attachments, nor modified in any way not recommended by Gath Sports Pty Ltd. Use of any accessories not supplied by the manufacturer or modifications to components of this product may decrease the level of protection provided and render any future warranty claim as invalid.

USE BY DATE
The life of a Gath is dependent upon the frequency of use, exposure to the elements, proper care and maintenance. Like all plastic products, it has a useable lifespan. Gath headgear has a shatter-proof shell and a resilient liner and will therefore not require replacement from the regular knocks and bumps associated with the more common watersports activities. However, if a Gath is subjected to more severe impact and there is visual damage, it is recommended that it be replaced. If headgear components are showing any sign of damage or weakness, we recommend contacting Murrays to arrange replacement of the component(s).

CARE, TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
After each use, rinse with fresh, clean water. Gath headgear is made from plastic components that may be damaged if exposed to excessive heat or harsh solvents. Do not store under pressure or weight, as this may deform the shell shape. Excessive heat may deform the foam liner, so do not expose to excessive heat such as leaving in a hot motor vehicle, especially on the dashboard.
